Marks first joint client under newly formed strategic alliance with Accero

Livonia, Michigan – August 11, 2010 – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex policies and compliance concerns, announces that MRC, the largest global distributor of pipe, valves, fittings and related products and services to the energy industry, has implemented the EmpCenter workforce management solution to automate labor processes and ensure compliance with all labor laws, rules and guidelines.

In 2007, McJunkin Corporation and Red Man Pipe & Supply completed a merger that doubled the size of the workforce. Because of the merger, the company’s payroll department was managing more than half the payroll processes manually – including the collection of hours worked and compliance with state and federal labor regulations. After implementing EmpCenter for its U.S. workforce, however, MRC was able to automate these critical workforce management processes and integrate them with the Accero Cyborg™ payroll system, all while retaining just three full-time payroll professionals.

Designed to streamline and simplify leave management and labor law compliance, EmpCenter tracks key information that helps MRC manage FMLA, including:

  • Running tally of hours worked over the past 12 months
  • FMLA hours already used over the last 12 months
  • Available FMLA hours for the current 12-month period

“Automating and enforcing our business policies and procedures allow us to add employees without increasing department resources – our workload remains the same,” said MRC’s Director of Payroll Pam Healy. “The information we collect automatically provides us with the detailed audit trail we need to aid in monitoring  compliance with business policies, union agreements, wage and hour rules, and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). This is a major change and a welcome relief for us.”

Enhancing employee satisfaction
Prior to EmpCenter, managers lacked visibility into employee accrual banks and employees were requesting time off only to find they had not accrued enough hours. Today, managers can instantly verify that an employee has sufficient time accrued before approving their requests. As a result, MRC can achieve positive changes in both employee relations and employee satisfaction.

“WorkForce Software maintained constant communication on deliverables and deadlines throughout the implementation process and they were responsive to changes and questions,” said Healy. “The system is now used in all U.S. operations and we’ve received only positive feedback. WorkForce Software was an excellent choice for us.”

Building upon a successful strategic alliance
MRC is also a long-standing client of Accero, a leading provider of HR and payroll management services and the most recent addition to WorkForce Software’s diverse array of strategic alliance partners. Accero, formerly Cyborg Systems, has a long-standing reputation for excellence in human capital management applications and complements WorkForce Software’s award winning workforce management solutions.

“It is always exciting to see a new customer live on EmpCenter, particularly when they are utilizing the system to solve some of the most pressing and strategic challenges facing their business,” said WorkForce Software’s Senior Vice President Howard Tarnoff. “This announcement, however, also marks the beginning of what I know will be a long and positive relationship with the Accero team. There’s great alignment of cultures and philosophies between our organizations, and now we have an exceptional joint client to celebrate as well.”

“As companies grow, particularly through mergers and acquisitions, payroll and human resources professionals are under enormous pressure to quickly incorporate people and processes into an efficient and consolidated system,” said Accero’s Vice President of Marketing Bob Conlin. “MRC’s ability to quickly absorb new employees, and do so without additional administrative headcount, is testament to the flexibility, ease of use and performance of the Accero Cyborg and Workforce Software solutions.”
