“‘Career Catfishing’: Steps Companies Can Take About the Trend” | Forbes

Gen Z is making headlines as they embark on their careers and define their place in the workforce. It’s noted in this recent Forbes article that Gen Z will make up nearly 30% of the workforce this year. Sandra Moran, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at WorkForce Software talked with Forbes about her perspective on the recent trend called career catfishing.

One-third of Gen Z workers are doing this, and Moran tells Forbes why Gen Z is partaking in this trend and how employers can take action towards eliminating themselves from being catfished in the future. She also highlights valuable traits employers should recognize that Gen Z can bring to the workplace. Below are three quotes from Moran explaining the value this generation can bring to the workplace:

  • “These individuals were born and raised digital natives, with high expectations for the availability of information, ease of use and personalization of their work experience.”
  • “This technological fluency enables them to navigate and leverage digital platforms effectively, enhancing productivity and innovation within the company. Furthermore, their skepticism towards company technology choices often encourages businesses to continuously evaluate and improve their tech offerings, ensuring they remain competitive and meet the evolving needs of their workforce.”
  • “Additionally, their desire for a more balanced approach to work and life can inspire improvements in company culture, leading to higher engagement and satisfaction across all generations within the workforce,” Moran concludes.
