World’s largest operator of bowling centers cites positive user feedback and immediate savings
Livonia, Michigan – July 12, 2011 – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, announces that AMF Bowling Centers, Inc. has successfully implemented EmpCenter Time and Attendance for its nationwide organization.
With 295 bowling center locations across 37 states, AMF Bowling is the largest owner and operator of bowling centers in the world – and an organization contending with significant workforce management complexity. Minors represent a considerable percentage of the workforce, and employees serving clients often receive tips along with hourly wages, two dynamics that carry specific pay rule and compliance requirements. These nuances are in addition to complexities associated with managing an 8,000 employee workforce, including multiple unions and separate bargaining agreements.
“We knew our business had a high degree of complexity when we set out to automate time and attendance, and this was central in our selection of WorkForce Software,” noted Rachel Labrecque, VP of Finance & Controller at AMF Bowling. “The EmpCenter solution was more flexible than others we had evaluated, and – more importantly – the WorkForce team brought significant domain experience to our partnership. Their expertise and dedication helped to ensure our successful go-live.”
Leveraging EmpCenter’s leading flexibility, WorkForce Software delivered to AMF Bowling a solution configured to their specific environment and AMF Bowling realized immediate savings as a result. As an example, AMF Bowling and WorkForce Software collaborated to integrate EmpCenter within point of sale systems for quick and convenient data collection – generating nearly $1 million in savings from that change alone.
In addition to new efficiencies and financial returns, the go-live has been successful on change management terms. AMF Bowling selected EmpCenter in part because of its ease-of-use, and that emphasis has paid dividends by generating high user satisfaction and adoption at an early stage.
“The response to EmpCenter has been overwhelmingly positive from day one,” stated Harsha Bellur, VP of Information Technology at AMF Bowling. “I have been really impressed by the direct feedback from our users about the solution’s performance and usability.”
Having achieved 100% time and labor automation with EmpCenter, AMF Bowling has ensured compliance, mitigated complexity, and can now focus on more strategic aspects of workforce management.
“AMF Bowling Centers, Inc. is an ideal partner for us,” added Eileen Barkatt, Director of Professional Services at WorkForce Software. “Their team is collaborative, strategic, and takes a proactive approach to investing in tools that drive enhanced business performance. We are proud to have them as a client, and look forward to a long, mutually-beneficial partnership.”
